Chinese table tennis player Kong Linghui was convicted of drunk
driving and fined for an accident last Friday.
Thirty-one-year old Kong was fined 1,800 yuan (about US$225) and
had his driver license suspended for half a year.
According to officials from China's table tennis and badminton
administrative center, the former world champion will also face the
punishment from the sports governing body.
Kong, driving a Porsche, crashed with a taxi at a crossing near
the south gate of the Workers Gymnasium in Beijing early Friday
morning. No one was injured in the accident.
