The Brazilian national indoor soccer team closed the 2007 season
with an impressive victory over Argentina 6-0 in a friendly match
on Sunday.
The game, which was in preparation for the 2008 World Cup of
indoor soccer that is scheduled to take place in Brazil in October
2008, had a scoreless first half despite a strong offensive assault
from the host players.
The Brazilian team, coached by PC Oliveira, was back on scoring
track with an own goal from Argentina in the 7th minute of the
second half, thanks to a deflection from Valdin.
In the 11th minute, Cabreuva scored on a magnificent individual
play to double the lead over Argentina.
The last four minutes of the game was a torture for the visiting
team who showed little resistance.
In the 16th minute, Lenisio struck the ball past the goalie. The
following minute, Simi marked his only goal of the day. In the 18th
minute, Lenisio scored the prettiest goal of the day, shooting from
nearly midfield, blowing the ball past the goalie.
Their sixth and final goal of the day came in the last minute
when Leco dribbled between defenders and fired the ball into the
back of the net.
This is the second time in six months that the Brazilian
national team beat Argentina, with their previous victory coming
from the Pan-American Games.
