British engineering guru Al Melling is looking to put one over on Bugatti by claiming the title of the world's fastest production car with his awesome Hellcat hypercar. If the claims are ratified, then this 1175bhp monster will blitz all before it with a 275mph top speed, and a 0-60mph time of just 2.6 seconds. For the sake of fair play, SupercarWorld will go with a top speed of 250mph until claims are proven.
The quad-turbo 1000bhp/ton beast will be as raw as they come with no concessions to creature comforts - no aircon, cd or even a heater! A carbonfibre chassis and body keep the weight down, and a racing harness will keep the driver in!
It may yet beat the mighty Veyron in a straight line but bearing in mind that Melling was the man behind the notoriously unreliable TVR Cerbera V8, will it last the distance?!
