The late Princess Margaret was the younger sister of Elizabeth II and the younger daughter of King George VI and his wife Queen Elizabeth. Margaret spent much of her childhood years in the company of her older sister and parents.

She accepted the proposal of the photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones. The marriage soon became unhappy and the couple divorced in 1978. Her divorce earned her negative publicity. Seventy percent of those polled believe her to have been the most beautiful royal in the world.
