Princess Mary, born in 1972, is a commoner who married into royalty. She is the wife of Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark. The couple met at a pub in Sydney, when the prince was visiting Australia during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Their marriage in 2004 was the subject of extensive attention from Australian and European news media. It was portrayed as a modern fairytale romance between a prince and a commoner.

She has been one of the world's most fashionable people in the annual International Best-Dressed List by Vanity Fair.
