Mine Production 2010: 120 tonnes
Indonesia was the world's joint-eighth biggest gold producer in 2011 along with Ghana, producing 100 tonnes of gold down 16.7 percent compared to 2010. Its gold resources are mainly concentrated in the Grasberg, Batu Hijau, Tujuh Bukit, and Ertsberg mineral districts. The Grasberg Gold Mine, located in Papua province, is the world's largest gold mine. Its production reached a peak of 93 tonnes (2.6 million ounces) in 1999. Affected by the 90-day strike which started in September, the mine produced about 40 tonnes (1.4 million ounces) of gold in 2011, down from 51 tonnes (1.8 million ounces) in 2010.
