Suning Appliance Group, founded in 1990 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is China's leading home appliance retailer for 3C products (consumer appliance, computer and communication products). By the end of 2011, Suning had more than 1,700 chain stores in over 600 cities on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, as well as in Japan. It has a total of 180,000 employees. The company's brand value amounted to 81.6 billion yuan (US$13 billion) in June, 2012. In 2011, the company reported 194.7 billion yuan (US$30.9 billion) in revenue and 4.8 billion yuan (US$761.9 million) in net profits. In 2012, it ranked 50th among the top 500 Chinese companies and 919th on Forbes' Global 2000 list.
