The Myanmar tourism authorities Wednesday advised foreign tourists visiting the country to take good care of their health against usually hot weather.

The Myanmar Ministry of Hotels and Tourism have advised the tourists to avoid exposure to sun, especially at noon, and swimming, saying that three travelers from Spain, Germany and Switzerland died of heat during their trip to the ancient city of Bagan last month.

All of them died of heart attack triggered by heat after examination, the sources said.

According to official statistics, tourist arrivals in Myanmar in the 2008-09 fiscal year ending in March totaled over 255,000.

The country targets a tourist arrival of 1 million in the present 2009-10 fiscal year which began in April.
