A tour guide is spending 10 days in administrative detention and fined 500 yuan after falsely reporting a bomb on board a plane that he and his tour group were trying to catch from Nanjing to Kunming Sunday.
Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH8012 from Nanjing to Kunming was delayed at Nanjing Lukou International Airport after a tour guide surnamed Zuo from a travel agency in Funing County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, posed as a reporter, saying there was a bomb on board the plane at 7:16 pm November 15. He did this in a desperate attempt to stop the airplane for his 23-person tour group.
A massive traffic jam on the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was causing the tour group to be late for their flight. That's why the tour guide concocted the false bomb report to the police.
As soon as the Jiangning Police Station received the call from Zuo, the message was passed onto the Nanjing Public Security Bureau for help, and the Nanjing Lukou Airport Police Station was instructed to take emergency measures.
The plane had not left the gate and Nanjing Lukou Airport Police boarded the plane to search for the bomb. The police also tried to track down the anonymous reporter for details.
Eventually, no bomb was found on the plane. Zuo was slapped with a 500 yuan fine and 10 days in administrative detention.
