Mixed music

Canadian musician David Braid will give a solo concert featuring jazz music. Braid graduated from the University of Toronto in 1998 and is now a teacher there. He has won 2009 Jazz Pianist of the Year award in Canada.

Braid is also a composer with more than 70 works, covering piano, jazz and symphony. His works blend the elements of classical music and American jazz - energetic and elegant.

Puppet Swan Lake

The China Puppet Theater is staging the fairy puppet show Swan Lake. The puppet version adopts the main plots and characters of the original work. The element of love is diluted in an effort to cater to young audiences. The stage properties are huge and fascinating, including the human-sized mushroom and flowers.

Modern prints

The ongoing exhibition, In Print, features a diverse selection of contemporary prints by 22 domestic and overseas artists, including American Terry Winters, South African William Kentridge, as well as China's Su Xinping and Zhu Wei.

Exhibits include selections from the Columbia University LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies collection and those chosen from the Asian Contemporary Art in Print celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Asia Society.

Elegant figures

Army artist Qu Zhi's recent oil paintings are themed around portraits of beauties. In the form of vertical scrolls, the portraits transmit calm and creat a leisurely ambience. Gray is dominant, with small areas of bright orange or red dotting the background.

New Hope charity show

Huang Shaofeng, a member of the Radio Mars pop music producing duo, joins a number of local musicians for a charity concert in aid of New Hope Foundation.

Improv rolls on

This monthly improv music live show was first organized by Saxophonist Li Tieqiao in 2007. An amazing range of artistes have performed on this stage ever since. No Viking Adventure, the 24th of the series, will gather wind instrumentalist Klaus Ellerhusen Holm, guitarist Kim Myhr and tuba player Martin Taxt to give a stunning improv show.

Twist and turn

Camila Tango salon launches tango courses for beginners and intermediates. The courses will teach you basic tango skills and how to dance in a tango party. Classes are on every Wednesday and Saturday. On Fridays and Saturdays there is a party with Argentinean tango music playing and wine is served.
