Dongning Fortress in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, known as the last battleground of World War II, has attracted over 470,000 visitors since it was turned into a tourist spot in 2005, according to Dongning Fortress Exhibition Hall.

On average, more than 1,000 visitors, mainly coming from China, Japan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea and Russia, tour the fortress every day.

Archeological researches by Chinese, Russia and Japanese experts have proved the fortress witnessed the surrender of 900 Japanese soldiers on Aug.30, 1945, as the last battleground of WWII.
