Figures released by the Statistics and Census Service of the Macau SAR Government indicate that the number of visitor and non-resident arrivals to the region totaled 2.69 million in July 2010.
Total visitor arrivals rose by 23.2% year on year to 2.16 million. The number of same-day visitors reached 1.11 million, accounting for 51.2% of the total visitor arrivals, with 578,189 coming from mainland China.
Analyzed by place of residence, the number of visitors from mainland China increased by 34% from a year earlier to 1.14 million, accounting for 52.8% of the total number of visitor arrivals, with 477,119 travelling to Macau under the Individual Visit Scheme: up by 40.3% from July 2009. Visitor numbers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and the Republic of Korea rose by 15.4%, 3.5%, 28.4% and 40.1% to 670, 953, 121,273, 32,892 and 28, 590 respectively.
The statistics service also said that total number of visitor arrivals reached 14.39 million in the first seven months of 2010, up by 18.7% year on year, with the majority of visitors coming from mainland China. Same-day visitors accounted for 51.8% of the total visitor arrivals, at 7,455,329 over the seven month period.
