Shows on ice

"Since Hokkaido in Japan is where the earliest snow festivity was held, the park will invite a local ice sculptor from there to participate in the ice carvings during the whole event," promised Ma. Friendly competitions between local and Japanese artists will be held periodically throughout the festival.

Ever seen acrobats on ice? We're not talking about when someone does a somersault and falls on their head: These are pros performing - on ice! "They may also bring some pigeons that are particularly trained to fly alongside their masters while they're skating," added Ma. Acrobats? Pigeons? What next - surely not some kind of snack event?

Why yes, this park has it all. A food zone is available providing a - wait for it - "standardized indoor dining experience" including a Chinese or Western buffet cooked by "luxury hotel chefs" while no snow festival visit would be complete without leaving via some sort of gift shop. And this one's no exception: A 400-meter long tent offers souvenirs and snacks from different countries to enjoy back home. So get your skis on and get down to Longtanhu Park this Christmas, as this one could really snowball…
