Ningxia: fierce sunshine and snow fun

In winter, the sunshine is still fierce in Ningxia Plain, though the temperature drops to minus ten degrees centigrade. Visitors who go to Ningxia in winter will not only enjoy the warm sunshine but also fare concessions. During the Ice and Snow Festival, which starts from Jan.1 2011, visitors enjoy the free ticket in Sand Lake.

Sand Lake

Located about 50 kilometers away from Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the Sand Lake scenic area is a famous wetland park in northwest China and also one of the ten famous tourist lakes in the country. The scenery is quite charming with swaying reed, gently rolling sand hills and clear water. At present, the Ice and Snow Festival is fully launched in the area. Besides appreciating the best winter views, visitors can also go skating in the frozen Sand Lake and ski in skiing park.

Through ticket for skiing: 130 yuan (including ice sledge, ski and ice tube)

Transportation: take the minibus from Yinchuan Tourist Bus Station to Sand Lake scenic area.

What to eat: visitors can taste the authentic food around the Sand Lake such as nutritious duck pot, braised fish head in casserole and spicy fried fish.
