Kylin Peak Hot Spring, the hot spring with the world's highest carbonic acid content
The high carbonic acid content of Kylin Peak Hot Spring was discovered in the wake of a major earthquake in Taiwan in 2003. According to scientific evaluations, Kylin Peak Hot Spring water contains 12400mg carbonic acid per liter; the richest in the world. The water has a PH value of 7.48.
Crowned as the "world's best hot spring", the Kylin Peak Hot Spring has drawn more and more tourists since it was discovered in 2003. There has been an increase of more than one million visitors.
The hot spring is also located inside the Ta-Keng scenic zone, which is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Taichung.
