He's clearly romantic about music, and about its role in Beijing. His yet-to-be bar is an apt metaphor for his ideals. And it was a perfectly appropriate environment for the festival it hosted: an unfinished, unnamed space that didn't even have time to prepare to sell booze.

This is the new frontier, a home for Beijing's fledgling artists, a concrete space where the smell of potential somehow manages to overpower the cigarette smoke.

The unnamed venue is located behind a roasted chestnut vendor at the SW corner of Di'anmen Inner Street and Di'anmen West Street, Dongcheng district.
