Located east of the Chengde Mountain Resort in Hebei Province, the Pule Temple (Temple of Universal Happiness) (普乐寺) is one of the eight outlying temples of the resort. It was built in 1766 as requested by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), showing the central government's respect for minorities.

The temple features the harmonious fusion of the Han and Tibetan architectural styles: The front part consists of buildings in the style of traditional Chinese temples, while the rear part is dominated by Tibetan mandala structures. The main buildings include the Front Gate, Side Towers, Shenyin Hall, Huili Hall, Hall of Heavenly Guardians, Zhongyin Hall and Dawning Light Hall. The ceiling of the Dawning Light Hall is especially beautiful, with exquisite and marvelous carvings embodying the outstanding craftsmanship in the Qing Dynasty.
