Located in Shandong Province, Qufu (曲阜鲁国故城) served as the capital of the Lu State during the Zhou Dynasty (11th century – 256 BC). Covering an area of 10 square kilometers, the city wall was 2.7 kilometers north to south and 3.7 kilometers east to west. The gate was over seven meters in diameter.

In addition, 128 tombs from the Zhou Dynasty, 7 tombs from the Western Han Dynasty and 1 tomb from the Tang Dynasty have been discovered in the locality, along with bronzes, pottery, bones and mussel. These discoveries have helped scientists understand burial customs during the Zhou Dynasty and Warring States period.
