Located 15 km east of modern Luoyang City, Luoyang is a perfect representation of large-scale ancient ruins. It (汉魏洛阳故城) was a capital city for over 330 years until the end of the Northern Wei when it was destroyed by wars.

The remnant of the city wall is 3895 meters long, the western part 4290 meters, and the northern part 3700 meters. The structures in the city mainly include palace walls, palaces, halls, government offices and gardens. It left great influence on the construction of capitals like Chang'an City of the Sui and Tang Dynasties and the Eastern Capital Luoyang.
