An opening ceremony was held in northern China's Dalian city to mark the starting of a driving tour along China's coast lines organized by Volvo Group China on October 22.

A team of about 50 different models of Volvo cars left Dalian with Beihai city in Guangxi Province as its destination. Major stops during the 22-day trip include cities in Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong provinces.

The driving crew will take part in a series of activities on the road, the most exciting of which is short-term training on sailing skills with Zhai Mo, the first Chinese person to complete a solo sailboat voyage around the world.

According to Liu Yan, vice president of Volvo China's sales and marketing department, the coastal tour showcases the adventurous and challenging spirit which is also the company motto. It has been a tradition for Volvo to invite the public to join such events as a brand-building method.
