The well explored charm of Lijiang

Carved on the entrance gate of the town is an inscription by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin which reads "World Cultural Heritage Site: The Ancient Town of Lijiang." [CRIENGLISH.com]


Situated in the northwest part of southwest China's Yunnan Province, the ancient city of Lijiang is a main destination for swarms of tourists all through the year. With spectacular scenery combined with the heavy influence of ethnic culture, it acquired World Cultural Heritage status in 1997.
