Mangrove Bay Wetland in Chengmai county of Hainan province will be officially open to the public on Oct 1 to welcome visitors during the National Day holiday.

The wetland covers an area of 1.47-square-kilometers and has set up various entertainment equipments. You can have a look at the mangroves that grow in swamps and other aquatic plants, as well as animals like flamingos and many other kinds of birds. There is also a themed restaurant, tea house and water recreation area.

Mangroves are protected as a rare tree variety in the country, and can release a large amount of negative oxygen ion, which is good for the human body.

Hainan Island's tropical climate provides it with rich wetland resources, and is playing an important role in protecting the biological diversity in China, even the world. In 2013, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) offered an investment of $2,630, 000 to Hainan for the preservation of the province's wetland.
