A grand building belonging to the Maotai Distillery stands on one side of the Chi River which runs along the border of Guizhou and Sichuan provinces, originating fom Zhenxiong County in Yunnan Province. It winds its way through the valleys around the Maotai Town, in Renhuai City, Guizhou Province, providing a steady source of pure water for the national liquor of maotai, which has given it the nickname of the Mother River of Maotai.
