The program creates a community of young advocates and develops their skills and enhances their confidence, leadership and communication skills, so that they can contribute positively to their local communities.
The ballet workshop is the first event put on by the Young Advocate Program and it is aimed toward developing the Paralympic spirit. This program was established for China’s 2008 Paralympic Games and the UK’s 2012 Olympic Games.
Tony Hall, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House, said: “The Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera House has a long history of bringing dance to the UK community. During our visit to China we will share our experience and expertise in developing community participants’ creative skills-and also in our approaches to leading creative ballet and movement education work in conjunction with China’s teaching artists.
