The film casts Hancock as an offbeat hero, whose careless actions always cause damage to his town, but he turns out to be a popular hero among the townsfolk by the end.
Also seeking to seduce the summer vacation market was Red Cliff, John Woo's latest production. The first installment premiered on July the 10th. The film features a galaxy of stars: Tony Leung, Chiling Lin, Takeshi Kanishiro, Chang Chen, Zhao Wei, Hu Jun, You Yong and Zhang Fengyi. The movie took eight and a half months to make, featured one thousand stunt scenes, boasted millions of dollars worth of sets, and thousands of staff members. The film broke records for the most copies sold, and took in 300-million yuan or over 40-million US dollars at the box office, the best selling Chinese language movie so far.
