The latest blockbuster gracing Chinese big screens before the National Holiday was "Mummy 3", which premiered on September the 2nd. The movie swept the global market in August. Chinese audiences have rushed to see the action sequences between Chinese kungfu stars Jet Lee and Michelle Yoeh, and the stunning stunts of the Dragon Emperor transforming into three huge dragons.
"Mummy 3" is set in China, and showcases a string of Chinese stars. The movie has won over 100-million yuan or over 14-million US dollars from the Chinese movie market. It's still running during the National Holiday.
But Hollywood blockbuster "Mummy 3" is facing a slew of China's domestic rivals during the National Day Holiday. The new productions include suspense thriller "Equation of Love and Death", a movie based on an ancient ghost story "Painted Skin", and Hong Kong crime thriller "Connected".
