The second China International Violin Competition began its first round on Tuesday in east China's coastal city of Qingdao. Thirty-five contestants from around the world are taking part.

The International Violin Competition opened its first round Tuesday afternoon at the Qingdao Music Hall. The contestants from home and abroad will take part in three rounds of competition over twelve days. At the conclusion six finalists will be decided.
