It's widely believed that the 2002 attack, which left 202 people dead, was funded by al-Qaida and carried out by members of the Southeast Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiyah.
The victims were mostly revellers fleeing the first blast, and they included 88 Australians, 28 Britons, and 8 Americans. At their trial, the three bombers confessed their role in the attack, but never expressed any remorse.
