Sydney is dancing to a different tune this month thanks to a new exhibition encouraging passers-by to stop and play the piano in the street.
|
Nicole Cusack, Passer-by, said, "I really love it because anyone can come and play, and it brings the whole community together. You can decorate the piano, you can play it, whatever you want."
With the pianos left open to the elements for three weeks, the organizers have given each instrument a supervisor, to ensure they're looked after if it starts raining.
Installing pianos all over the city is logistically complicated, and runs the risk that the instruments could get damaged.
The pianos will officially remain in place until January 31st, but what happens to them before or after that is up to local residents and passers-by. Because, after all, these are pianos for the people.
