Li Dongmei, the vice party sectary of TianQiao St. administration office said, "'Eight Strange Performers of Tianqiao' is a representation of Tianqiao folk culture. Zhao has vividly captured the spirit of the eight characters with her delicate brushwork, which indicates that she has a good understanding and deep love of Tianqiao culture."

Zhao Wei's husband said, "She has been clever and had a deft hand since she was young. I fell in love with her for her talent. She made these paintings when she was young. She began to paint on eggs in the 1970's, and mainly painted court ladies, on whole eggs. Then I thought she could innovate."

He said even if you are an amateur you should not always do the same things as others. And you should reach to attain a high level. Even though you are just doing it for fun, you should not be mediocre.

He kept suggesting new ideas. A whole egg is not a big deal, how about painting on half a shell? I said I can. Then, how about carving? I said I can. And embroidering? I said I can. Actually I was not sure if I could really do all these things then.
