Fausta is a product of a rape inflicted on her mother during the wave of violence in Peru in the 1980's and 1990's.
Llosa says Peruvian filmmakers need awards such as the Golden Bear to help movie goers get to know their work.
Claudia Llosa, Director, "The Milk of Sorrow" , said, "Yes, people received the film very warmly and it was nicely accepted. We are all very happy and now we just have to enjoy the show. Let us see, I always hope. One has to dream always."
The Silver Bear jury grand prix award, effectively the runner-up prize, is shared between Uruguayan drama "Gigante" and German entry "Everyone Else".
The best director award went to Iran's Adghar Farhadi for "About Elly".
Malian Sotigui Kouyate won the best actor award for "London River" and best actress went to Austrian Birgit Minichmayr for "Everyone Else." The best script award went to Oren Moverman and Alessandro Camon for "The Messenger".
