The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that President Hu Jintao will attend the Group of Twenty summit in London on April 1st and 2nd.
Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said President Hu Jintao will present China's position on world financial institutions and the establishment of a coordinated mechanism to tackle the global economic slump.
Hu Jintao is also expected to hold separate meetings with leaders from other countries on the sidelines of the summit. His talks with Barack Obama will be the first between the Chinese President and the new leader of the United States.
He Yafei said China's expectations for this summit include rebuilding consumer trust, opposing protectionism, and reforming financial institutions.
Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said, "The G20 meeting should work out specific timetables and road maps in order to increase the voices and representation of emerging economies and developing countries. "
