Nearly 18 months have passed since the National Center for the Performing Arts officially opened. Authorities say the theatre's financial situation is very good.
Since late 2007, nearly 1,200 performances have been staged at the theatre that boasts the nation's best facilities. The theatre has received over 1.3 million visits. On average, all of the shows have managed to sell more than 80 percent of their tickets despite the economic slowdown.
Deng Yijiang, vice president of National Center for Performing Arts, said, "The operating cost of the theatre in last year was about 400 million yuan. Government investment accounted for 30 percent of the funding. The theatre managed to raise the rest of the money. On the whole, the theatre's operation is healthy."
