The Chinese Culture Festival was held on Saturday at the Liberal Arts Auditorium of the Moscow University. Students and faculty of the institution attended, as well as people from all walks of life in the local community. There were demonstrations of China's cultural traditions, including calligraphy, the tea ceremony, kungfu, and folk dances.
The event was organized by the Confucius Academy at Moscow University. As the academy's first large-scale activity, the festival is intended to promote the understanding of Chinese culture. The Confucius Academy was set up in September of 2007, through a collaboration between the Peking University and Moscow University. Nearly a hundred students are studying the Chinese language at the academy.
