The 44th International Film Festival is underway in the spa resort of Karlovy Vary. An array of events are on the schedule, including an award for French actress Isabelle Huppert and the world premiere of a new film by Director Milos Forman.
The festival takes place in the spa resort of Karlovy Vary. It features 220 movies, including Czech-born Milos Forman's "A Walk Worthwhile". The Oscar-winning director adapted the film from a 2007 staging of a Czech musical from the 1960s.
The film made its international premiere at the film festival on Saturday.
Director Milo Forman said, "The theme is universal, the story is very simple but very funny and attractive. It is about the couple, you know, what divorcing. They hate each other but suddenly they got a telegram that the aunt in Liverpool died and the child of this couple inherited one million pounds. The problem is, they don't have any child. But for one million pounds why not to get married again? Why not to get together again, you know? Then some complication happened. The theme, I think, is universal. What is untranslatable is the language of the author of the libretto, Jiri Suchy which is absolutely brilliant, but we have an English translation which is not bad."
Meanwhile the second feature film of Lithuanian director Ignas Miskinis is making its international premiere in the "East of the West" competition at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
The film -- "Low Lights" -- has already won the Silver Crane award for best feature film in Lithuania.
"Low Lights" is an urban road movie about two men and a woman brought together for a one night car trip on the city streets.
A chance encounter between former classmate leads to an unexpected mid-night meeting with a mystery woman who turns out to be the wife of one of the men.
The festival runs until Saturday.
