China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo, has met US President Barack Obama in Washington. During the talks and on several other occasions, Wu Bangguo has said China will continue boosting economic growth to play its part in the global recovery.

Wu Bangguo met Barack Obama on Thursday afternoon at the Oval Office. The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral ties and international and regional issues of mutual concern. Wu is the highest-ranking Chinese leader that Obama has received since taking office in January.
Wu Bangguo called for closer economic cooperation with the US and the removal of trade barriers protecting US from foreign competition.
Earlier in the day, Wu met Vice US president Joe Biden.
Wu Bangguo also met many retired US politicians at his hotel. These dignitaries included former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Madeleine Albright.
On Thursday night, Wu Bangguo attended a welcome dinner held by Sino-US friendship associations. He delivered a key-note speech on bilateral ties and China's development. He called for closer cooperation to fight trade and investment protectionism to help boost the recovery of the world economy. He also reaffirmed China's commitment to its reform and opening up policy, saying the country can't achieve development in isolation.
