Produced in 1980, "Three Monks" tells a story using simple lines and form. There is no dubbed voice-over for the film. The story is based on a folk proverb and tells a truth that only solidarity and cooperation between people can make things right. "Three Monks" has become a masterpiece of Chinese animation and has won numerous awards. It won a Silver Prize at the 4th Odense International Fairytale Film Festival in Denmark, a Silver Bear Prize at the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival, and a Best Film Awards at the Portugal International Film Festival.
