Calling other restaurants, the situation was the same.

"There's no seats."

"Sorry, we're all booked."

That is creating a booming new market for restaurants. New Year's eve lunches. This restaurant began taking reservations for new year's LUNCH last year.

Xiao said, "New year's eve became a national holiday in 2008. That adds to the popularity at lunch time."

Having a lunch here on new year's eve costs about 150 yuan per person, about 100 yuan cheaper than dinner. Some customers say lunch not only saves them from the dinner rush but is also good for their health.

Ms. Xu said, "Lunch time is much warmer, this is good for the elderly. It's also good for digestion. You don't want to eat too much at night."

Several large restaurants across the city say half of their LUNCH tables are already reserved this year.
