As southern China continues to endure almost endless torrential downpours, northern parts of the country are being scorched by a heat wave.
Temperatures in the north have topped 35 degrees Celsius. Residents have been told to stay indoors when ever possible, and for those working outside, to take precautions against heatstroke.
The summer is heating up.
On Sunday, Beijing sweated through one of its hottest days this summer. Temperatures soared to 35 degrees Celsius, with high levels of humidity.
For many, it's been an unbearable experience.
Those who have no choice but to work, are battling the heat the best they can with hats, umbrellas and drinking lots of water.
The local government has warned residents to take precautions to prevent heatstroke.
