The weather bureau says the heat wave will persist for the next few days.

Guo Jinlan, weatehr reporter of Beijing Meteorological Bureau, said, "Temperatures will remain above 35 degree Celsius for days with high humidity. The weather condition will not change in a short time."

Meanwhile, in Northwest China's Gansu Province, a record-high of 38 degrees Celsius, has promoted the local meteorological bureau to issue an orange alert.

Many residents are feeling the effects of the hot weather.

At a local hospital, patients are being treated with heat related illnesses.

A doctor from Gansu Province said, "If people feel uncomfortable, they should go to the hospital immediately or take some medicine. Staying in a cool environment is also good for their health."

Amidst all the discomfort, some are welcoming the heat wave.

Some businesses are seeing their revenues soar along with temperatures.

In a shopping mall, air-conditioners are a hot item.

Sales person of Longyan City, Fujian Province, said, "The weather is hot lately, so our business is very good. Most customers prefer energy-saving models."

Weather forecast predict that the heat wave is going to continue to bake affected areas for the next few days, with temperatures in some regions reaching up to 40 degrees Celsius.
