Warriors of Middle Earth gather at the Dolby Theater for the world premiere of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug." This installment will be the first time fans get to see director Peter Jackson's interpretation of the dreaded dragon.

"The good thing with the second movie is you don't have to start the movie, you don't have to introduce characters. We're just dropping straight into the end of the last film. Essentially we are able to put the gas on. It's the chapter in which everything gets more complicated. More danger and more excitement basically." said Peter Jackson, Director.

The trilogy traces the adventures of hobbit Bilbo Baggins, as he attempts to help a group of dwarves regain their wealth from the dragon Smaug. To date, only the first movie in the latest trilogy has been released. "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" took in just over $1 billion at the box office. Actor Martin Freeman tries to explain its popularity.

"I hope that it is entertaining. I hope that it affords someone a little bit of escapism from the work of the world. I think what the Hobbit and Middle Earth kind of deals in are quite universal timeless themes. Of honor and love and friendship and loyalty and bravery and Integrity. They are things that do resonate with people of all ages clearly, because there lots of ages here." said Martin Freeman, Actor.
