Making "The Hobbit" movie trilogy has cost more than half a billion dollars so far, double the amount spent on "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Benedict Cumberbatch only voiced the dragon in the first Hobbit movie. This time he's also motion-captured in his role as the No. 1 villain of the sequel. For him, Jackson's choice of splitting the book into three movies adds more dimension to the story.
"This huge world of detail, this wealth of alternative reality that is Middle Earth that gets expanded upon in 'Lord of The Rings.' Having made 'Lord of The Rings,' you can't just come to 'The Hobbit' and just do the bare bones. I think that they are there. It honors the book and it honors everything that's in the book. It just carries it another dimension as well." said Benedict Cumberbatch, Actor.
"The Hobbit" is the prequel to Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, also directed by Jackson. Orlando Bloom has been playing the elf prince Legolas since the first "Rings" trilogy in 2001. He says his adventure in Middle Earth has been exhilarating.
"It's been 15 (years) or so, 10 maybe, 15 I don't know,12 years, since I was a part of the 'Rings' trilogy. I forgot what a phenomenon and what a sort of what an event it becomes. It is really amazing. " said Orlando Bloom, Actor.
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is due out December 13th, while the final movie, "The Hobbit: There and Back Again," is due out in December next year.
