Shanghai residents had a chance to have their portraits taken and displayed at Xintiandi. |
The project has already made stop in a number of large cities including London, New York and Havana. Partipants, both expats and locals, said the project goes beyond individuals and provides a good picture of the city.
"Shanghai is a city of comprehension. It embraces difference and welcomes people from all over the world." Fu Jingnan said.
"When I look at all the photos and the people who come and line up, and are mainly Chinese people, I'm really impressed to see that every kind of people are coming, from every age and every background, and if you look at the photos, you will see young, old, kids, babies, everyone's coming to participate, and this for me is a way of portraying society." JR French Artist said.
The project at Xintiandi will run until Thursday, but people around the world can also upload their photos to the project's official website and receive a poster-size copy for free.
