Victory delivers China's first gold medal in athletics
Earlier, China's Gong Lijiao grabbed her first Asian Games gold in the women's shot put. One of the top throwers in the world, the 25-year-old faced few challenges in Incheon, as a toss of 19.06 meters sealed the title for her. It was also China's first athletics gold at this event.
Bahraini runner stripped of gold for foul
There was lots of drama on the track, as Bahrain's Kenyan-born runner, Ruth Jebet, had a roller-coaster ride to the top of the podium. She was about to collect the gold medal in the 3,000 meter steeplechase after an easy win, but the judges stripped her of the victory, ruling that she had stumbled and landed one foot inside the track. But Bahrain's team appealed, and the officials changed their mind, with one judge later revealing that the gold was given back to Jebet because she did not obstruct any other athletes on her foul.
