Chinese culture program held in Nepal

A Chinese culture event, themed the evening of "the 60th National Day Celebration of the People's Republic of China and Chinese Culture program," was held in Nepali capital Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The event was organized by the Chinese embassy in Nepal and Chinese teachers from Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University and Nepal Chinese Volunteer Teachers and their students presented performance with rich Chinese and Nepali culture.

Nepali song "Resham Firiri" and dance "Girls' Dream", and Chinese Dai ethnic dance "Dancing Among Bamboos" and chorus "Todayis Your Birthday, My Motherland" among others, all jointly prepared by the Nepali students and their Chinese teachers, won the some 1000 spectators' cheers and praise.

Qiu Guohong, Chinese ambassador to Nepal, said "Nepal is China's harmonious neighbor and friend. The two countries' friendship is deeply rooted among the two peoples, with cultural exchange of long standing and well established."

"With effort made by the two governments and peoples, the cultural exchange between the two countries will be more frequent," said the ambassador.

"The program, especially, showed the Nepali students' Chinese language skill and their good understanding of the Chinese culture. The fully successful performance, itself, demonstrated that increasing number of Nepalese are interested in learning Chinese language, through which they enjoys more in Chinese culture," Fan Guoping, chief of the culture section in Chinese embassy told Xinhua.
