China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have greater mutual trust as a result of their trilateral cooperation, says a joint statement issued at the second trilateral leaders' meeting in Beijing Saturday.

The statement says the common interests of the three countries have continuously grown, the mechanisms for dialogue have been further broadened and cooperation in a range of fields has been promoted since the launch of trilateral cooperation in 1999.

The three countries have enhanced mutual political trust through forging a future-oriented, comprehensive cooperative partnership, the statement says.

With the rapid expansion of trilateral economic cooperation as well as trade and investment, the three countries have emerged as important trading partners to each other, the statement says.

Cultural and people-to-people exchanges are dynamic and close, which greatly enhanced mutual understanding and friendship among the peoples, the statement says.

The three countries remain committed to the development of an East Asia community based on the principles of openness, transparency, inclusiveness as a long-term goal, and to regional cooperation, while maintaining increased trilateral communication and coordination on regional and international affairs, the statement says.

The achievements over the past decade prove that greater cooperation among China, Japan and the ROK serves the fundamental interests of the three countries and peoples, and contributes to regional peace, stability and prosperity, the statement says.
