Wu Bangguo, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Belarusian lower house speaker in Beijing Monday, calling for further parliamentary and other exchanges between the two countries.

While meeting with Vladimir Andreichenko, chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Wu proposed that the two countries should maintain high-level visits, support each other, safeguard common interests, strengthen trade cooperation, and enhance cultural and parliamentary exchanges.

China appreciated Belarus' firm support for China on issues of Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and human rights, and China respected Belarus' domestic and foreign policies based on its own national situations, said Wu.

Andreichenko said Belarus was willing to enhance cooperation with China in areas of trade, technology and culture, and expected more Chinese enterprises to invest in his country.
