A Chinese Tibetologist delegation started its U.S. visit Thursday afternoon after a week-long trip in Canada.
During their first day in the United States, the delegation members felt that Americans were very much interested in Tibet, Zha Luo, head of the delegation, told Xinhua.
"They have expressed their hopes to visit Tibet, especially to conduct an inspection tour to Tibet," said Zha Luo, an associate professor with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
According to the delegation head, the Chinese Tibetologists have exchanged views with their U.S. counterparts and briefed them on the developments and changes in Tibet.
At a discussion with some 30 experts, scholars and students of Columbia University and other U.S. universities, the delegation members exchanged views on Tibetology, and answered questions about education, modernization, religion, environmental protection and economic development in Tibet.
The Chinese delegation arrived here Thursday after visiting Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa in Canada. They will also visit Washington D.C. and Los Angeles.
