The Mohave County Sheriff's office confirmed Monday that 10 Chinese tourists were killed or injured in a bus crash in Arizona Sunday morning.
Two people died at the scene, two others were in critical condition while another was in serious condition as of early Monday, the authorities said. Five passengers who suffered minor injuries have been treated; four of them were discharged.
The crash took place near the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in northwestern Arizona, when a tour bus operated by TBE International Inc. and carrying ten passengers and one tour guide from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West, swerved off the road, killing two passengers at the scene.
The authorities are withholding the identities of the dead until next of kin have been notified.
The driver, 49-year-old Zhi Lu, and tour guide, 52-year-old Qiang Du, received no injuries during the collision as they wore seat belts, the sheriff's office said.
