Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held talks with his German counterpart Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg Tuesday to discuss bilateral relationship and military cooperation.

Liang, also the State Councilor, said the two countries' relationship has developed in a healthy way with frequent high-level visits and increased mutual political trust.

With respect to each other's territory and sovereignty integrity, the two countries had maintained close coordination in major international issues and cooperated well in various sectors, Liang said.

China attached great importance to Sino-German relations and hoped to work with Germany to move forward bilateral ties, Liang added.

Guttenberg said Germany and China in recent years have strengthened ties in various fields, increased communications in military policies and enhanced cooperation in personnel exchanges.

He wished to expand military cooperation through his visit to China and work together to meet common challenges.
